Yeah, just had to share my opinion on the topic..
I think everyone is freakin RUDE for saying that Kris Allen winning was the wrong thing. That SOMEHOW, America got it wrong. In my eyes, both Kris and Adam were fantastic. This was the first season where there was more than one "stand-out" artist. I mean, obviously, Adam has been stunning from day one- always able to arrange the song in new and different ways to make it "his", and his performances were definitely the most consistently flawless. But he did have his flaws- though his transition to his high range was seemingly flawless, the tambre of his voice in that range was well.. undesireable. It had this weird nasaly thing going on that got annoying after a while. Still loved him, but he definitely was not the "perfect" idol candidate that everyone (including myself) thought he was in the beginning.
Kris, on the other hand, was very much so the "underdog" of the whole competition. I remember, in the very beginning, I thought he was cute, and had a cute voice, but didn't have enough "star power" to allow him to stay. Boy was I worng. Although I still think he's incredibly.. closeted (not GAY. just.. doesn't really seem to develop a connection with the audience.. shy). But then, I guess that could have something to do with the fact that I haven't been able to watch these past few weeks' episodes because of my performances/rehearsals. but still. And I watched his performances on Tuesday night, but I wasn't blown away. He didn't leave me starring at the TV with my mouth open like Adam has (haha). That, and musically, he's never really spot on, pitch-wise. Something Adam has never had a problem with. Maybe because I know what to listen for when it comes to pitch and other people don't, maybe that's why I notice it much more than other people, but still. Kris has always had that problem.
Anyway, the good, for both? Kris has a contract with the Idol people (which could be bad also...) and Adam is free to do as he pleases with his music (because YOU KNOW he will be getting MANY offers. Probably got 10 last night). The reason why Kris' situation might be bad is that Idol contracts don't necessarily work out.. (fantasia, taylor hicks, ruben studdard) and I don't know if Kris is good enough to push through that and make it like Kelly, Carrie, or Jordin..
Either way I would've been happy with the outcome. It was a fantastic season, the best season in my opinion, in terms of talent. That finale I wish I had taped! All those different performers! and the "awards"! The team who came up with the finale should get a huge raise.
Ok, I think that's all. I am just tired of reading headlines/twitter updates about how Adam was "robbed" of the title, and how Kris was an "upset".
People are mean.
2. Chekizie- wrong wrong wrong song. started off WAYY too low. and yeah, I agree with Simon, I didn't like the suit. not one of the best.
3. David Cook- I love that song. I think he's a good rock singer, but I'd be interested to hear him sing something besides rock.. although he probably wouldn't be able to pull anything off besides rock. oh well.
4. Jason Yeager- sang a cute little ballad that sounded a lot like hopelessly devoted to you from Grease. I don't think his voice is as strong as the rest of the guys though, so far. He has a nice voice though.. very, pleasant. haha
5. Robbie Carrico- seems really.. chill. haha he has a pretty good voice. nothing special, to me. he needs braces though. or veneers or something.
6. David Archuleta- AH, I LOVE HIM. the song needs to be in a higher key though.. -_- aww he just makes me smileeeeeeee =D also, out of the ones who've already performed, he seems the most professional. surprisingly, since he;s the youngest [17]--ONE OF MY FAVORITES!
7. Danny Noriega- HELLO WONDERFUL GAY BOY! He's soooo pretty! I don't think it was a good song to start off with, Jail House Rock is too fast to hear how he can really sing.. but he still sang in tune. and sang it well, considering. Probably another one of my favorites, but again, one of the youngest [18] and still more professional than the rest. HE IS A SASSY LITTLE BITCH. seriously, HELLA ATTITUDE.
8. Luke Menard- his voice is too pansy, too soft. too weak, I'm not a fan. He needs more.. idk. umf. and needs better pitch control. compared to the rest, he wasn't as good. and I agree with Simon, it was forgettable.
9. Colton Berry- He's a good, solid singer. Surprising, because I didn't think he'd be that good, but he's maybe in my top 3 favorites so far. Good song choice. for a white guy- NOT BAD!
10. Garrett Haley- 17 years old.. boring. His voice sounds weird, he looks really nervous.. the ending is getting better, I suppose. he's not very good about pitch either. eh, overall I didn't really like him. [for what it's worth, E thinks he was "sweeeeeet!" haha]
11. Jason Castro- HE HAS DREADS. and he's cute [you can see where my.. priorities lie.] and he played the guitar during his performance. I liked him! he messed up a little bit, got thrown off which messed up his ending.. but I liked it, despite his voice not having any real depth. I'm actually really surprised that I liked him. because this was my first time ever hearing him, and the dreads are so.. intriguing! I agree with simon, top 2 of the night.
12. Michael Johns- well, I hate the song. but I do like his voice. on the round before this, to get into the top 24, he sang bohemian rhapsody and I LOVED IT. Probably the only pre-top 24 auditions that I'll ever remember. it was just GREAT. Tonight he did really good, considering. I just didn't like the song. but I do like his voice. a lot a lot. ps. he's AUSTRALIAN!
My favorites of the night [and probably the rest of the season- in order]
1. David Archuleta
2. Jason Castro
3. Michael Johns
4. Colton Berry
5. Danny Noriega
the rest I can probably do without, thank you!
Tomorrow night it's the girls!
can't wait!
whoever is doing the PR for this show should get a fucking raise.
Usually, I NEVER watch the audition tour; I've always been so annoyed with all the horrible singers and ridiculous auditions, but this year, I watched every single episode. and I was excited for each episode
and the little lead-in to the up coming episodes gave me chills.
I am actually VERY excited for this season's American Idol.
and I've never been this hooked since season 1.
mostly because I thought there wasn't very much talent in the seasons, but this year, I have seen soooo many crazy talented auditions that I have high hopes.
hopefully they will not disappoint.
