Hamburgers or cheeseburgers?
WELLLLLL... I don't like cheeseburgers unless there is ketchup on it. The cheese is usually very salty, so I need the ketchup to kind of counteract it. I take my hamburgers with all the fixings- lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, ketchup, oh, but NO mustard. And I HATE overcooked patties. My favorite are medium/medium rare. Well done burgers have little to no flavor for me. The pink gives the burger yummy flavor.
=)
It's too early. I need more sleep. haha
Yesterday was the first day of the Chinese New Year. The Chinese year 4707 is the year of the ox. What's your Chinese zodiac animal and what does it say about you?
I am a SNAKE.
Personality
Occupying the 6th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Snake symbolizes such character traits as intelligence, gracefulness and materialism. When it comes to decision-making, Snakes are extremely analytical and as a result, they don’t jump into situations. They are effective at getting the things they want, even if it means they have to scheme and plot along the way.
Snakes are very materialistic creatures, preferring to surround themselves with the finest that life has to offer. This is especially evident in the home, where luxurious furnishings and surroundings help Snakes seek the peace they need in order to thrive.
Health
Snakes prefer living a life of calmness, preferring quietness over noise and a manageable workload rather than a schedule that’s overly-booked. Snakes become easily stressed when their lives aren’t peaceful or in order. Too much of this way of life can shorten a snake’s life!
Career
Snakes do work very hard, but they have a tendency to be job-hoppers as they become easily bored. Their somewhat laid-back attitude causes them to be mistakenly categorized as slackers, but nothing could be further from the truth! Snakes are very creative and extremely diligent. They’re excellent problem-solvers and thrive under tight deadlines. Good career choices for Snakes include: scientist, analyst, investigator, painter, potter, jeweler, astrologer, magician, dietician, and sociologist.
Relationships
Snakes are excellent seducers so they never have trouble attracting others. However, they’ll be the ones to decide when a relationship has potential and when it does not. Once they’ve chosen a partner, a Snake’s insecure side will begin to show through. Snakes guards their chosen partners much like a prized possessions, becoming jealous and even obsessive. Snakes prefer to keep their feelings to themselves. It’s important to never betray a Snake’s trust as a betrayed snake will make it a goal to get even some day!
Snakes and the 5 elements
Metal Snake – Years 1941 and 2001
Incredibly goal-oriented, Metal Snakes will stop at nothing to get that which they believe they deserve. Failure is not in their vocabularies. With their money, they’re continually acquiring more and more possessions – for themselves.
Water Snake – Years 1953 and 2013
Influential, motivated, insightful, and highly intellectual are words that best characterize Water Snakes. These Snakes work well with others and enjoy being recognized and rewarded. They’ll reveal feelings to those closest to them, but no one else.
Wood Snake – Years 1905 and 1965
Kind and genuine, these Snakes enjoy building a solid foundation of friends and family whom they love deeply and whose company they enjoy immensely. But even with all this support, Wood Snakes rarely seek the advice of others.
Fire Snake – Years 1917 and 1977
Fire Snakes are more extroverted, forever offering opinions and telling others what’s on their minds. Even so, others enjoy listening to Fire Snakes. They’re very persuasive and are especially good at convincing others that their ways are best.
Earth Snakes – Years 1929 and 1989
Earth Snakes always seem to be calm and content. They’re friendly and approachable and believe that they’ll reap great rewards by working hard and relying on common sense. (sooooo true for me)
Compatibility
The Snake is compatible with a Rooster and an Ox and incompatible with a Pig and a Monkey.
(my sister and ex boyfriend are both Monkeys.. hahahahahaha)
Where do you want to go on your next vacation?
Submitted by beth.directly from my other blog:
We’ve been talking about going to Greece since the summer, but we all just figured it would be sometime next year, during the summer or something, but with Rachel joining SCV, she won’t have ANY free time, so the optimal time to go would be over the holiday break. Well, that in conjunction with the fact that the dollar is not doing too poorly right now compared to the Euro, well the ideal time to go would be now. Even though the economy is in the toilet, and it wouldn’t be exactly CHEAP, it’s still not completely ridiculous, and it would probably be our last family trip.
The only things I don’t like about this plan is that my grandma will be alone for Christmas. We’re the reason she’s here- we moved her out here.. and even though she is having Thanksgiving at our house, it kind of breaks my heart a little to think about her being by herself on Christmas. That, and also the fact that we just won’t be here for Christmas or New Years.. no tree, no dog
I really like being at home for Christmas. I love the smell of a Christmas tree, and seeing all the lights on all the houses, and the Christmas music on the radio, and all the stores selling their Christmas decorations and cookies and cakes and pies. My goodness, I just LOVE Christmas.
But it’s not like I’ve spent every Christmas at home. I’ve spent a lot of them in Colorado or New Mexico. I guess it wouldn’t be too bad to spend it on a boat. (We’d be sailing on Christmas and New Years. and you’d think that would suck, but really, it saves us a lot of trouble. If we were docked somewhere on either of those days, NOTHING would be open. California is very different in that respect- Almost every state/country I’ve been to on holidays are complete CLOSED on those days. NOTHING is open. Not even a supermarket. Or a gas station. NOTHING.. anyway..) So it wouldn’t be too bad on the boat. They’d probably have parties and stuff, and knowing me, I’d probably have a lot of fun =)Ugh whatever. It would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am totally gonna take it, of course, but leaving my grandma/dog/house just kind of sucks..
Anyway, so details of the trip- We’d start in Barcelona on Dec. 21 (we’d have to fly there somehow, and then board the ship there. Then we “cruise” for a day, and on the 23 we’d dock in Tunis, Tunisia, and spend the day there. The next day will be in Valletta Malta, and then after that we cruise for two days (Christmas and Boxing Day). On the 27th, we’d dock in Piraeus(Athens), Greece and spend the day on land. The 28th would be in Rhodes, Greece, the 29th in Limassol, Cyprus, and then 30th in Alexandria, Egypt. We’re in Egypt from 7am to 10pm, and HOPEFULLY we’ll go on a land tour to the PYRAMIDS. It is $175 per person, and a lot of walking, and a 12 hour trip, but SO FREAKIN WORTH IT. If we don’t, I’ll understand why, but I will still be pretty disappointed (hello- once in a lifetime!). After that is the 31st and 1st, both of which we will be cruising. Then the 2nd, we’ll be in Palermo (Sicily), Italy, the 3rd is cruising, and the 4th Palma De Mallorca, Spain, and then finish the cruise on the 5th back in Barcelona.
COOL, RIGHT?
Ok, I don’t have much else to say about it. I’m excited, and I hope we end up going- it’s starting to really look like we are though. =)
If you could teleport to any place in the world right this second, where would you go?
Rome. In a heartbeat
Have you ever had a premonition about something that came true?
Submitted by Sheri.
yes, all the freakin time. For instance, yesterday, I was in the car with my mom and sister and a song was playing that I maybe heard once in my life?[not really my piece of pie..] and my sister asked what the name of it was. We have a prius, and the name+song title are usually displayed for certain stations, but for some reason there was a delay on this song, so out of no where I blurted out "vertical horizon" and then I laughed, because of how ridiculous that name is for a rock band. It just seems weird. and then sure enough, a few minutes later, the screen flashed the words Vertical Horizon. That's just once instance that happened recently that I can remember all of, and granted it wasn't really a premonition, but those don't happen as often. Mostly when I'm dreaming or when I'm zoning out.
What is your daily commute like? What is the weirdest thing you've seen on that commute?
Submitted by E.
It's actually not too bad..
Unless I leave wayy late, like, after 7am. or When I leave from school, if I leave after 3. Traffic is relatively light, and parking is great.
The weirdest thing I've seen? I haven't seen much in the way of "weird", but I have seen scary. This guy's truck was overheated or something, so he pulled off to the side and popped the hood, and there was a full on fire in the engine. and so he ripped the shirt off of his back to try and smother it, but I don't think it worked too well..
I don't know what else happened because I was too far away to look back and try and tell. haha
not really THAT scary, I suppose. But still nothing I would ever want to go through! =x
What do you think of Stephen Colbert's satirical bid for the U.S. Presidency?
I think it's kind of ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up winning a lot of votes, though. He has the ability to be the tie breaker [theres another word for it], like Nader in the Gore/Bush election in 2000. Bush won because of Nader.. if Nader wasn't running, Gore would've gotten all of those votes, and would've won, and thats what I think has the possibility of happening next year. I really don't know anything about him [democrat? I'm guessing? and I don't know his basis for running, what his foundation is. I don't know which issues he's for/against. I don't know anything about him].
I think it's ridiculous, though, only because he is a comedy central show host.hahaha
What's the best music documentary or concert film you've seen?
Well.. I've seen soo many it's hard to pick just one. I tend to enjoy the ones that feature a lot of artists [Tony Bennett's latest compilation], or the ones on KQED that feature performers from the 40's and 50's. I also like watching benefit concerts [Live8?]. The only music documentaries I've seen are on individual artists [ella, bird, cole porter]. My parents taught me early on how to appreciate all types of music, which makes my preference for music GREATLY varied. I really do like [parts of] everything!
What's the worst new television show to premiere this season?
PUSHING DAISIES.
one of my best friends LOVES the show, but I think it's ridiculous. I TRIED to give it a chance, but so far, no luck. haha
